Before joining Google in July 2005, Kai-fu Lee had many accomplishments in the IT industry working for big names such as Microsoft, SGI and Apple. With this background, it's no wonder the lawsuit between Microsoft and Google regarding Dr. Lee's move to Google attracted the public's attention for more than half a year.

China is a potentially massive market for Google, but there is already a robust domestic search engine landscape, with Baidu leading the charge. Can Kai-Fu Lee help Google succeed in the China market? Like many multi-national companies, Google is carrying out its localization strategy in China. Google's new Chinese name "Gu Ge" is an attempt to be closer to the Chinese users. And they are also recruiting Chinese staff. Is this enough?

David Wu…Wu Dawei….Master Wu….Wu Man…These are all the names his fans and audiences know him by. In this episode of Up-Close, we invited one of Asia's most well known TV personalities to our studio…David Wu.
David is a Chinese-American and was born in a small town in Marseilles. When he was 2-years old, his family moved to Taipei where he attended the Taipei American School with his older sister. At the age of 13, he moved to Seattle, Washington. After graduating from the University of Washington, he decided to return to Asia to develop his acting career. Since then, David has been the host of numerous television programs and has also been cast in many TV dramas and feature films.

After joining the Star TV network, David became the most recognized and popular VJ on CHANNEL[V]. In his programs, he dresses casually and jokes with his viewers. His lively and humorous American hosting style is fresh and unique, and is loved by audiences of all ages. Many younger generation hosts have attempted to emulate his style; however, David believes nobody can truly copy his style, because it essentially is a reflection of his own personality. Today, David remains one of the preeminent bicultural/bilingual entertainment personalities in China.

Constantly flying from city to city, David takes part in many different types of projects. However, nowadays, he says he is doing most hosting than film acting. Much of his attention is also focused on a new English club that he helped establish with a few business partners - TalkdaTalk, an activity based English learning club.

At the early age of 17, she became the youngest woman to win the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Xiu Xiu-The Sent-Down Girl. This year, she attracted the attention of audiences when she won Best Actress at the Romania International Film Festival. She is China's movie nymph, Li Xiaolu.

A famous Chinese director is quoted as saying, "Li Xiao lu was born with perfect performing skills." Lei Xianhe, a top-grade director in China said: "She has proved to the public that some individuals have an innate acting ability." Despite living amongst endless praise, Li Xiaolu is still pursuing her dream in acting.

Xiaolu was born in an artistic family in 1982. She began acting at the age of three and by the age of 15 she had already won awards at the Cannes Film Festival and Golden Horse Film Festival. In addition, she has acted in dozens of TV dramas - both contemporary and period pieces - thereby making her a leader amongst young actors.
"Xiuxiu-The Sent Down Girl" is the project everyone uses as the benchmark for Xiaolu's acting skills. But she does not agree, she told us she was still waiting…waiting for the next project that will touch the hearts of herself and her fans.
